This map depicts the conditions of housing in the West End prior to the Urban Renewal. As is visible, the darker patches reflect on the substandard conditions, and thus Urban Renewal was, unfortunately, inevitable.

This picture shows an aerial shot of the West End after Urban Renewal had been underway. It is clear to see that entire parts of the city were stripped away to make room for the new plans.
