This clip shows the Urban Renewal Project Plans that were drawn up by the City leaders in the 1950s. The changes made to the West End would see the neighbourhood destroyed by the new plans to update the city and its housing availabilities.

This photograph shows the West End after its Urban Renewal. There are more high-rise buildings, and it is clear that the layout of the area has changed. Wider streets with more open spaces also characterise the Urban Renewal of the West End.

This map depicts the conditions of housing in the West End prior to the Urban Renewal. As is visible, the darker patches reflect on the substandard conditions, and thus Urban Renewal was, unfortunately, inevitable.

This 'Rat Day' Handbill calls on the inhabitants of the West End to 'Kill [their] Rats!'. The 4 different languages presented on the handbill showcase the diversity of the West End, and its vast immigrant population.

This roster shows the diversity of immigrants that registered in a class that offered a variety of services to immigrant families settling in the West End. The 1940s saw a continuation of immigrant families moving from Europe to the West End.
