When I visited the Hatch Memorial Shell with a friend, we encountered a lovely family with two children and spent half an hour chatting with the parents, feeding their one-year-old son, and playing tag with their older son. This interaction was testament to the utility of public spaces in strengthening community and allowing people to interact in meaningful ways.
