Joe Moakley served as a Massachusetts congressman for 28 years until his death. He was a key player in Tip O'Neil's Congress during the 1980s and was known for his working class morals. He was born in Southie and strove to improve his neighborhood in the way that many Irish Americans that held political office in Massachusetts sought to do.
