Conclusion

Architecture may be the only surviving visual lense with which to analyze the cultural aesthetic of the Soviet Union across all of its history. While much of art and culture was being surpressed, the constant need for infrastructure always allowed architecture to survive as an important form of a visual representation. Thus, as one walks through a city like Moscow, they are able to explore what type of aesthetic was representative of the culture at a given time. With a little more digging and some background knowledge it is not hard to extract deep meaning and importance from these surviving monuments. In this way, our five stops were able to help in expand on the traditional exploration of the five major eras of the USSR.
