Conclusion

In all, it can be agreed upon that Red Square, historically, and still in modern life, represents Russia’s population’s struggle for greater freedoms. Although these struggles have not always been victorious, the Square successfully characterises the Russian trait of perseverance, which is translated very clearly in the riots, rallies, and demonstrations that we have encountered. In this way, it is hard to deny that Red Square remains a People’s Haven: the palimpsest of Red Square speaks volumes to its role in granting ordinary Russians of different backgrounds their right to protest. Red Square captures Moscow’s heart: the people, and their will.
