Colonel Prescott led the Patriot troops to the peak of Breed's Hill in an effort to prevent the British from seizing the hill and taking control of Boston harbor. His statue lies in front of the Bunker Hill Memorial.

It was from the Old North Church that Paul Revere received his signal that the British were approaching "by sea" across the Charles River. Paul Revere was then able to ride to warn Adams and Hancock of the impending British arrival.
