A Bastion of Bridges

Over the centuries, Moscow has come to be known for its beautiful bridges, offering chains from one location in the city to the next. The city has come to continue to build on top of past glory with more and more impressive feats, and they are currently working on a twelve-mile bridge to Crimea. Here, I am reminded of the quote -

"Moscow, breathing fire like a human volcano with its smoldering lava of passion, ambition, and politics, its hurly-burly of meetings and entertainment... Moscow seethes and bubbles and gasps for air. It's always thirsting for something new." -Svetlana Alliluyeva, daughter of Joseph Stalin, Twenty Letters to a Friend (1963)

Ironically, literally, the seething, bubbling, and gasping for air is exactly what bridges try to avoid, but figuratively, the designing and executing of more and more impressive bridges represents exactly this bubbling energy of Moscow and its aspiration for the next best thing.
