Conclusion

In all, the layers of the West End, from its diverse community, to the devastation of Urban Renewal, and the visual mapping of these changes, allow us to see the West End Museum as a palimpsest for the history of the area. Using Sennett’s interpretation of Arendt[8], we can also apply the theory of a public realm being composed of an urban centre, densely packed by citizens who are equal and free, to the West End.
