Intro to Moscow: Russia's Recrowned Jewel

Moscow is a city with an identity crisis. The crisis does not arise from internal turmoil within the city itself, but rather turmoil the country has caused the city by stripping it of its status as capital and later returning it years and years later.

The Moscow in the tour below is the Moscow after the Soviet Union collapses in 1991, the Moscow that is coming to terms with both its identity as a capital once again (since 1918) all while changing in the new Russian Federation instead of the USSR. At the initial collapse of the USSR, Moscow seems to be leaning towards the old, the traditional, and the historical. However, as time passed the the 21st century came, Moscow began to develop a more artistic, outspoken, and international identity.
